I don`t trust myself to fit my own saddles as I have seen master saddle fitters put saddles on my horses and they look ok and they just take them straight off again and say it doesn`t fit. I have a mare who sometimes suffers with pelvis/back problems and so don`t want to make her any worse with an ill-fitting saddle.
Does anyone else trust themselves?

Their main saddle I tend to get a saddler to fit. Although saying that my Welshie got a Wintec Wide automatically as I knew no normal saddle would fit him! I change the gullet up and down on my own judgement.

If I get a specialist saddle like a dressage one which I dont use as often as their main GP then I tend to fit it myself.

Shop saddler originally fitted Hal's.. physio checked it fitted the other day when she came up and it still does! Wouldn't trust myself on a brand new one, but trust myself to know when it needs changing etc.

Master saddler as i have a mare with a sensitive back. However my semi retired pony who does light work from time to time will now be getting a new saddle which i have fit. But i have paid attention and know what im looking for but im no where near as good as a mater!
BHut should serfice for the oldie!

I've only bought one saddle for my boy - a dressage one off Ebay. I put it on to see if it would fit first, then consulted my instructor before getting the saddler out. Miraculously it fits, and only needed a bit of stuffing taking out to make it fit perfectly!
