Good morning everyone :)
I was wondering if there are some breeders on this forum who are familor with this breed and its growth rate?
My boy is 4 next month (April) and he is 1 inch bum high. When i bought him from the breeder i asked if he would level out and she said yes. So i am wondering if there is any hope for more growth at this time? Thanks for any advice you may have or experience you could share :)

I'm not familiar with that cross before but seen as Fjord are not that big I would imagine 15 hands maybe a bit bigger, sometimes if the mare is the bigger of the 2 you can expect a bit of a bigger foal but so hard to tell.

Was his dam the standard bred?

Fjords are very late to mature so he could potentially be growing and maturing til 7 or so.

Fjord crosses are rare because the parent studbook frowns on their existence and will take papers away from mares or stallions used in their breeding if they find out! So not a lot of them around, which is a shame because they cross beautifully onto lighter mares.

I didn't know this, makes sense why i haven't seen many around! He is very beautiful and moves incredibly!! I'm so happy to hear he could still be growing then :)

Some standardbreds look like daddy long legs - leggy, gangly with a body that appears to be from something else. They often retain a yearling look, as if they still have a bit of maturing to do. But then when they start to move - wow! Maybe you will get the best of both breeds!
