Hi all

We’ve just had 4 acres flail mowed and ragwort picked. How long does this need to rest before horses can go back on?

Keen to hear experiences as reading a lot of variance from its fine, to have it swept

In the past we have topped fields with the horses still in them. Only worry we had was if there was a lot of cut grass in heaps that might heat up. We just kicked them about.

I put mine back on our topped 4 acre field the next day. The cuttings were scattered well though, no big heaps/piles of cut grass so i wasnt too worried.

Depends on volume of clumps - you don't want it fermenting.

We had a field done last week, but was only taking the tops off anything over six inches, which resulted in no clumps. As the winds were due I knew it would get it all moved around nicely. Neds were back on within a week, once I'd done a walkabout to make sure all was well.
