Had the physio out yesterday and found out that maddie has problems with her saddle (not very happy as we had saddler out not that long ago at the start of her problems and never noticed this, was highly reccomended them) it's shifting onto her spine as the flocking is a bit dodgy and needs fixing.
She also reccomended we get it done with flair. Was wondering if anyone has had a GFS Fieldhouse Pro Event done with flair?
Any comments about flair also would be helpful!
Thank you!

i wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole. old-fashioned flocking is safer and very comfortable for the horse. flair panels overlap, can cause ridges and sore points. when i had problems with a brand-new saddle with flair (which ended up being fully refunded as it was leaving pressure lumps on my mare's back), quite a few people on here PMd me to say that they'd had good saddles totally wrecked with Flair.

Ooh! thanks for that! I absolutley adore my saddle (comfiest thing ever)
thought i had read a few things on here that weren't positive.
I dont want more problems with her back when we're just getting better!
Thanks for that!

We used Partoows KN saddle which had flair fitted which was fantastic but I don't think she recommended it for all saddles, have just bought a second hand wow but need to get it fitted.

Well i think it is right. Seemed to be fine for like 8 months then just went a bit wonky.
We had is reflocked across her withers thinking this was the problem but it made no difference!

I had Flair fitted to an event saddle, when Flair was fairly new to the market (1999) and I've found it great, never had a problem with it at all.
I also have a Flair Korrector pad for my other saddles, my horse is definately happy with it than with a flocked saddle.

I'd always go with a decent well-flocked wool saddle.
Flair is a gimic in my opinion - very over-priced, IME their customer service leaves much to be desired.

Thanks for all the replies. I think i will steer clear of flair. I personally dont's see the need for it as wool flocked saddles have never caused her a problem up untill now.
Plus it would take a fornight for me to get it all sorted-dont's want another fortnight not riding!

Another vote for don't bother. I had a Fieldhouse converted to Flair and loved riding on it. After about five years the horse started with back problems and the physio said the area of bruising was typical of Flair problems. Had the saddler take it apart and she found the bags had overlaped and deflated. Had it converted back to flocking and wouldn't touch Flair again.

I think its horses for courses really. Just like some of us like chocolate and some of us can't stand it, some horses like flair and some don't. If your horse likes flocking go for that, if she doesn't try something else. Unfortunatly with horses there seems to be a lot of expensive trial and error involved.
