Flakey dock ...?

My horse suffers from sweet itch sadly but this year i have it under controll

i have recently been using benzoll benziote (mirical potion) . But all her docks skin has started to flake...? Why and what could i do to stop it or remove it ...? HELP!!

I had that with benzyl benzoate, on some horses it causes the skin to slough off. You cant stop it happeng as its just dead skin. Lots of grooming will help to get rid of the flakes and perhaps massaging some oil or conditioner to keep the skin moisturised should help. The thing is you need to decide is- sweet itch or flaking skin - I know what I would prefer.
 
i just rubbed vasaline into my mares tail after it went dry after using louse shampoo (no, my horse didnt have any!! but horses that moved on where riddled in them so thought best to prevent rather than cure!!) after a couple of days her tail was back to normal!!, i have never used benzyl benzoate as never had need but a friend did and it worked wonders on her horse!
