Just recapturing my youth and reading Flambards, a book I loved as a teenager. And guess what? It's still great! Going to have to read full trilogy now and dig out my K M Peyton back catalogue. Wonder if the TV series watched back now would be as good?

I loved Flambards. I enjoyed the first three in the series (Edge of the Cloud/Flambards in Summer). Top tip - don't read the last one - Flambards Divided. It is a real downer.

My daughter and I are currently working our way through the Flambards DVDs. They bring back such good childhood memories for me :) Daughter has read the books but this is her first time viewing the tv programme. She loves it and we are both walking round the house singing the "whistling" theme tune.

Oh loved the books AND the series. Wanted a combintation of Mark and William - Marks horsemanship but Williams brains and sensitivity.... went off Mark big time though after he nicked Strawberry out hunting with the resulting horrors..

OMG, I loved Flambards, my french teacher's horses were used in it and I balme her for me being useless at french, we just used to distract her every lesson by asking questions about it! I feel so old!

K. M. Peyton is one of my favourite authors. There are sequels to Flambards if anyone is interested.
1. Flambards (1968)
2. The Edge of the Cloud (1969)
Flambards in Summer (1969)
Flambards Divided (1981)

I absolutely love these books; my mother was throwing out loads of my old stuff, and found these books, so I reread them recently. They are as brilliant as an adult as I found them as a child. I had no idea they were made into a TV series!
*wanders off to amazon to order...*
