Flares and heaves

My pony became ill in April came in from field with flaring nostrils and heaves. Moved him to friends 2 mins down road and absolutely fine after 24 hours. Moved back and bad within 24 hours :-( differences - where ill has no shelter in field, just fencing, hawthorn nearby and trees several fields away with nothing to stop breeze. Field where ok is quite enclosed by trees and houses. Help.please, what on earth is he allergic too???

Sounds like a pollen allergy.

What does your vet think?

Pollen but don't understand why fine in one field but not the other?

Is your field downwind from any oilseed rape?

No and rape in field where fine so not that but thank you

I had a mare that had what we think was a tree pollen allergy. However it's not just whether there is a source of the pollen, but also the weather and the wind direction that affected whether she had the symptoms.

The vet gave me an asthma inhaler that worked an absolute treat to alleviate her symptoms.

That would imply the wind exposure on the field is the problem then as trees all round other field. Thanks
