What is the difference in terms of functionality please?

(Also, how do I get rid of the google rectangular advert that covers the ability to do a post button above the forum, please - it's driving me barmy?)

I think a flash just stops them opening their mouths whereas a grackle stops them crossing their jaw.
But I haven't got a clue about the second question!

thanks - so the kinder of the two, would be the flash?

This is a bit like the "which bit is milder" question... a flash is harsh if you do it and the cavesson it's attached to up so tightly that it rubs. I prefer a grackle - my horse hates strong bits and won't work in a flash. He goes in a cavesson for most things but I jump in a grackle (and it means I can use his normal flatwork bit) whereas he won't tolerate a flash at all.

I don't think you can compare them, it's like comparing apples and oranges because they have different functions.
