Oh you must be very excited! What stallion is she in foal to and is it her first foal? My foal is just about ready to be weaned can't believe how quickly the months fly by seems like only yesterday she was born!!

Yes, not too late here in Australia - probably should have mentioned that. :D

She is in foal to QEB Superstar, his pedigree link is in the original post. Yes this is her first foal, she didn't go in for me last year, so super excited now!

Just thought I should post an update!

I think we are getting pretty close now! I can see the foal really moving on her flanks, it pushes out so far sometimes you can see it from quite a distance away!
She isn't all to impressed with being this big anymore either.. poor girl!

She had some waxing today, clear hard drops on the ends of both teats. I also managed to convince her to let me et some milk today, and it is a clear to slightly white colour and slightly sticky.

Yeap it was! We had a foal just one and a half hours ago! :D
Not all went to plan, we had a elbow flexed so I had to pull it, but all seems well at the moment. Touch and go there for a moment, but we now have a healthy colt!
Placenta is passed and looks fine, and he has been drinking well!

Photos asap!

I looked at that first picture and had aaaaaawwwww moment. There's nothing like the sight of a wet foal on the ground to help you through the dark wet cold winter... although sadly there will be no foal for me next spring :(

Well done to all & congratulations x

Beautiful foal!! Congratulations and thanks for pics :)

I was gonna say about the barbed wire fencing too - not sure how much foal experience you have but in my experience they are masters at getting tangled up in stuff so personally I would run an electric fence inside that to try to keep baby away.

Couple of drier photos at 24 hours old :) Poor little guy, its been raining on him almost non stop. He has the greatest canter at the moment, love watching him run around.. Still hasn't got those legs quite worked out for the trot yet.. But I am really happy with him so far!

He just needs a name now too!
Sire: Superstar (Superior FM x Barjar Ebony) Dam: Flash Flood (French Contact x Classic Flood)

Aww bless him, he's cute. He looks as if he's going to go grey? Well done to your mare, she looked enormous in the last photo you posted before he was born. It probably a relief for her to be slim again.

I think she is definately happy to be thinner again!

Do you guys think his base colour is bay, or a really dark chestnut? I just don't think I have seen many chestnut foals this dark, but he doesn't have a dark mane which is a little confusing!

I'd say he's liver chestnut at the moment but will probably go grey. He looks lighter round his eyes and muzzle which is a clue. He's totally gorgeous by they way! Does he have a name yet?
