My connie is absolutely fine to ride in the school - he accepts the contact, doesn't evade, doesn't hang and is overall happy and soft in his mouth. He is also the same when out hacking unless, however, it is a fast hack.
The majority of the time he is fine to control/stop, even on these fast hacks although sometimes he can get a bit excitable and opens his mouth, evades the bit and voila - its 2 fingers up to me!
Would it be acceptable to use a flash when i know it is going to be a fast hack? I know the evasion isn't from pain as he would do it in the school and on all hacks surely? I am very happy to put the work in as i know he shouldn't be doing this. I am also not very keen on changing the bit as he is happy in it at all other times although will consider anything.
Would this help matters? i don't want to just cover up the problem but thought it could help me gain back that control on the rare occasion it isn't there and work from there. Its not a huge problem but needs nipping in the bud as he is only 6.
