Just wondered how your coping with your flat footed beasties.
My boys jarred himself up being a prat in the field, the ground is so hard, its not helping at all, bugga just when he was going well.
How are managing yours??

get a podiatrist out to work with your horses feet. Hard ground is better when they are conditioned properly. If they are flat there is an issue that needs to be addressed :)

big lad has awful feet - flat footed long pasterns and his feet were total mess - now he is fitted with barr shoes and since had them on for last 2 years no abcesses or bruised soles or any foot related problems - ok 6 abcesses in 18 months beat that - cost more but fitted by my excellant farrier have done a treat wooo hooooo bring it on :)

my boy is flat footed but my farrier has been slowly trying to help, he is shod all round and he does struggle on this ground but that is partly down to tendon injuries from racing.
i dont ride on this ground, may hack out in walk, but i am lucky and can use the sandschool and roundpen.
He's only in a small paddock on his own too as he charges about/breaks out, when he's with others and then goes lame :( i have a stable ready incase he does it again but he hates being in!

spizwhizz i am trying to adress the problem my farrier has been doing a great job taking the toes back over a period of time of corse, so to grow more heel, this will hopefully give more space between cofin bone and sole...
i looked at having pads put on him just to help him during the summer months but farrier wasnt too sure they would help much and could cause other problems. We only found out he was flat footed last year after exrays and the vet says it will take time,to change the foot :-/ bloody horses!!!
