Would I be right in thinking this is fairly common in tbs? Just curious as saw one the other day.

How does it affect them, and there performance leves, eg no jumping? more strain on tendons?

I have an anglo arab with very flat feet and a tb who doesnt have flat feet but they are just generally terrible and have very thin soles. Neither of them are really affected at all, they both jump and do abit of everything, however neither are doing competing at high levels, but not because of lameness! We have tried various things, like pads, but not to much success, however both have improved with the new farrier!

my tb has poor feet they dont really grow much and if they do its outwards and not upwards! With my farrier we have got them as right as they are ever going to be! It affects him in no ways at all! We do a bit of jumping but mainly flatwork dressage etc. Like to have 4 feet on the ground most of the times! seriously i wouldnt let it put you off buying one tho!

ive got one!doesnt affect him at all, we are still competing at the bigger stuff and it has never been a problem

if you've got one - it's just management and care on hard/stoney ground

if you're looking at at TB stallion - and it's got flat feet - it's a good reason to think twice and look round for something else

too many TBs are bred for speed first and conformation 2nd - arazi (?) a few years back won about 15 races on the trot and went to stud - where he was a total cripple by the following year and still continued to stand at stud ........and presumeably produce more fast horses with bad feet/legs
