Hi all,
I have a 14.2 connie x that is 9. I got him as a 3yo sold him as a 6yo and he came back to me April time. He has mild changes in hocks and kept going lame when in harder work, this is why I have had him back. This was known when sold so not an issue just so you know a bit of history.
Now my problem is, that when he came back to me his feet were shocking, he was near enough on skin on his backs, fronts not great but a lot better than the backs. It did amaze me that he had been to the vets for a lameness work up and no comment was made on his feet. I had his shoes straight off and my very good farrier trimmed them. Now he gets a rasp round when needed and feet are a lot better shape wise apart from he has the flattest soles I have ever seen! He does feel the stones, fine on grass and in the school. He is on low sugar etc diet. Is there anything else I can do?
On a good note my horse had his shoes off last Friday week and backs are fab fronts are really good, he just takes it steady on the rough stones. I am going to get him some boots as we have a 9 mile ride round Windsor in a few weeks and don't want to push my luck when he is doing so well.
