I’m sure that this has been done to death but I’m after flat tree dressage saddle recommendations.

currently have an Albion slk which fits my horse nicely but doesn’t fit me very well at all. I’m quite long from thigh to knee, so I tend to come over the knee blocks.

I rode in a friends Farrington dressage last night and it doesn’t have massive knee blocks which I think helped a lot, my lower leg just didn’t move at all. Which in comparison to the slk, my lower leg swings out quite a bit.

Obviously the saddle fitting the horse will be priority in anything new that I buy, but I feel like there must be something out there that suits us both better.

mare in question is MW, broad shouldered and very flat back, not masses of wither. I will be speaking to my saddler to see what his thoughts are, but I thought some recommendations would be good to start with

That looks to have fairly chunky knee blocks, I think I’d need to have a sit on one first to make sure the thigh to knee space is suitable

I need thigh space too, it is the Equipe Emporio...

The Equipe Emporio comprises cow hide, with synthetic tree and incorporating a tempered steel head iron. This is a monoflap model.

This model was used by Charlotte Dujardin at London 2012, and is one of the most popular dressage saddles we sell. It is a very light weight, comfortable and supportive little saddle, although the blocks look big, they do not force your leg into position, but allow it to be in the correct place, the blocks are made from calf covered foam and are soft enough to allow your knee into them.
