I know cob saddle threads have been done a thousand times but does anyone know what make of cob saddle has the flattest tree?
I have a saddle company cob gp and their specialist fitter has told me that the tree isn't flat enough for my horse.
My budget is the value of my current saddle so around £400 and I've been looking at the thorowgood t4 & t8 and living in hope of finding a second hand ideal H&C. I've tried a Black Country cob, Arabian saddle company and mark Todd jump saddle but none fit quite right - lots of movement over the back. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks

Have you tried Ideal or Fylde? I have an Ideal Ramsey on my highland as it was the best fit. There isn't a lot of rider support, but you get used to it.

I've had a Silhouette cob saddle and it was the flattest tree I've ever seen - had to sell it in the end as it was too flat and started bridging on my cob.

Our sport tree is super flat, the supercob tree is super flat and super wide through the whole length. Supercob tree only introduced about 3 years ago and not many made, sport pony tree has been used a ton over the years (when Andrea designed the Native Pony range too, up to 2010) in GP, jump, showing and WH models. I'd be happy to have a look at photos or links of any you saw to confirm which tree is in them.

Some Fylde trees are very flat but they tend to have rather mean thin panels, I'd use with a sheepskin at least and you may need to lift the back to keep it in correct balance.

I would say that a lot of bridging is not from too flat a tree but from too long and too high a rear panel, and too narrow or overflocked at the front. Too many horses IMO are fitted with trees that are too curvy giving no room for the horse to lift its back in the middle of the saddle.

Thanks everyone. I'll have a search for the suggested makes/models.
I've spotted an Arabian Saddle company Saddle but the seller says that the tree was replaced as the previous one broke - should I avoid this?
Sbloom - I'd attach photos but don't know how to!.......I'll work it out and post them soon.

I have no idea how to attach them directly from your PC, can you host them on a photo website/cloud site and post links? You can email them to me directly but it's always interesting for other people to see photos/discussion :)

To my knowledge ASC saddles aren't super flat in the tree.
