I have heard that this is very good for horses, helping to supply vitamins and minerals as well as being good for the gut. My concern is weight gain. I have a mare who is prone to piling on the pounds and I am rather concerned at the thought of feeding her oil. What do you think?

For what it's worth, any oil is high in calories. If you need to feed it and don't want her too fat it might be best to cut some calories from something else in the diet.

There's nothing else to cut out!! She only gets grass and a handful of low-cal chaff with her supplements in. She's not currently overweight as I have worked very hard all winter to ensure that she looses weight to give her a cushion when the spring and summer grass come through. As a result she is now looking spot on :) Will the 15ml be enough to gain weight? She only has to look at calories for them to end up on her waist line!!!

Are you sure she even needs it?

If she's pretty chunky as it is she probably doesn't need any more oils/calories in her diet - sounds like she's getting more then enough goodness with the grass! :)
