well chaos came home from the vets with fleas, he was treated with frontline (as were the others) but it doesnt seem to have done anything for him, he actually seems to be scratching and chewing himself more since he was done,
i did all the house carpets curtains etc with the spray flea treatment i got from the vet, but they dont seem to be dying

so does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of them?
all suggestions gratefully recieved

the stuff from the vets is rubbish and very overpriced, it just doesn't seem to work

best go to a pet shop, buy some flea shampoo and give a good bath every other day til theyve gone, also get flea spray, and give your dog a good brush as well....remember the fleas have prob laid eggs that will hatch

i find the frontline spot on next to useless, the spray still does the trick, go get a massive bottle and drench all of them in it.

Seriously...don't go to the pet shop

it's shite.
Try strong hold or front line spray as opposed to spot on's, he may be scratching as he is more sensitive/allergic to the bites themselves, i.e they my not be living on him, but they can still jump on and take a bite b4 the flea treatment does it's job of killing them, lots of dogs take bad reactions to flea bites, like humans can, and this alone will make him itchy and irritable without them actually living on him.

Do the house again if need be, dog beds, skirting, carpets, sometimes u may need more than one tin, I usually use about 1 and a half on my house.

Ditto this - I have also had to treat animals that have had adverse reactions to this - its f**king horrible stuff.

Anyway back to the issue - frontline acts as a deterent it won't kill the fleas but sterilize them so that any eggs won't hatch.

Phone your vet and ask if they stick capstar - it a tablet that will kill the fleas within 15mins and only one of very few products you can use along side any other flea treatment.

Ditto Cala aswell for everything!!

My vet said frontline is not as effective as it used to be .
I have moved to ADVOCATE' which I find very effective .
Not a sign of a flea or tick on my two it seems to last about 8 weeks or more
