I use Prac-tic as we have a lot of deer around here and the dogs were always picking up tics. It works very well.

Neem oil!
Just get a bottle of Neem,
5 mls of Neem to 3 ml of liquid shampoo, mix with 1 L of water and wash over dog. No need to rinse.
All natural, kills off the fleas and others will not attach for at least three weeks.
What is left spray over the garden to keep slugs and snails away,.
