We are having a little problem with fleas. We deflead all the cats and the dogs the weekend we got the dogs with the spot treatments. Anyway less than four weeks later and the kitten is riddled with fleas and as she plays with the puppies all the time they had fleas on them. They have been scratching and their fur is thinning in places. Today we have bathed the puppies, retreated all the cats, locked the cats out for the day and treated the puppies with a flea spray.

It worries me that they have reacted so badly and are scratching their fur of. Is there anything else I can do to look after them.

I was told that cat fleas can live in your carpets so you have to spray your house too!!! Not sure if its the same with dog fleas.

Personnally though I had a pup with fleas and just combed and combed several times a day! But I only had the one

You just have to keep defleaing them and combing until they b***er off!!! The fleas that is, not the dogs and cats!!

Kittens and puppies seem to be more prone to fleas but Ive no idea why!

As the above posts mentioned.....you need to treat the whole house, carpets, furnishings e,t,c otherwise as the fleas hatch from the house/carpets e,t,c they will reinfest the animals....if the animals are adequatley treated the fleas will die anyway....but if you dont treat the house it will be a viscious circle.
Ask your vet for a good house hold flea treatment.
Nuvan staykill or acclaim something along those lines.
Happy flea killing

Ok I have wooden floors downstairs - we will treat the sofas when we go to bed and the bedrooms when we come down tomorrow.

Will also do some more flea combing of the dogs.

Thanks for your advice.

Most fleas found on dogs are cat fleas and they can be difficult to get rid of . Front line is good but as mentioned - you do have make sure that your house is treated at the same time. Try giving garlic capsules as well - an old fashioned but effective preventative !

Frontline dogs - get it in spray form for the kitten and then spray your home with Staykil (available from vets) Hoover anything that you can - that's what the crevice tool is for. Good luck!
