I have one, though only had it since the end of October. Not had any problems with it, quick & easy to put up or take down (have moved yard since it was first put up). I liked it as it was a net so the horse wasn't stuck with their head in black plastic. It's quicker to sort than nets and holds more, I have the largest one. The company were also pretty quick to respond to any questions I had and were nice to deal with. I'm pretty happy with it, won't go back to nets for every day and I still don't like the hay bar.
Oh great thank you! I was looking to get a hay bar as my horse has a slight dust allergy and it does help a lot when she has her hay in there but came across those and figured it may be a better option.... and a bit cheaper!
I looked at the flexi ones but didn't really like the look or fittings! If you want haybars but cheaper (and sturdier and better looking) I would recommend bold-box hay feeders. I kitted out my whole yard with them and am very happy - they even cut one down for the shetland they come in lots of colours but I went with boring brown to match the stables lol.
I think it's personal preference, I've never been keen on the look of the hay bar & I didn't like that it was solid plastic, if he sat on it (which he does with the flexi rac) he would eventually rip it from the wall or crack it, he's broken a few wooden posts in the post & rail fence doing this. I also just preferred that it was a net as opposed to solid & it comes off very easily for me to hose it down. I occasionally have to feed soaked hay & I would rather not put it into a soild container like that as it's tricky to clean, but it is purely personal preference. I also looked at the hay cube (would still be easier to clean than a hay bar) & a few other feeders but I need something that can hold a lot so oppted for the rac.
Loads better, the plastic is better quality and I think the squarer design of the top is stronger than the curve of a haybar. They are very easy to clean out - just leave 5" or so above the ground when fitting and you can fit a broom under to sweep out old hay or dust
Have them, prefer to hay bar as feel more breathable, easier to wash as all. Unfortunately horses still pulled hay out, so now have a tie ring at bottom which tie hay in a net to, but secured in the flexi rac. Other horse has an eazi grazer but they are rather expensive!
Love mine! I couldn't have a hay bar as I knew that cob would have broken it very quickly with her fat bum! The strip that holds the lip broke after a year (likely my fault for resting the heavy wet net on it before tipping) but they replaced it for free
Every hay bar on my yard is cracked/dented or removed as it is completely broken. Flexi rack has been brilliant!
I got one at YHL last year and still haven't fitted it yet 😳 in my defence I did have stables taken down and re built this year so just haven't got round to it yet......
Thanks everyone! I will have a look around and see what price I can get either a flexi-rac or the square looking one for but I agree, both look much better than the haybar!
