Flexi Stirrup iron snapped! What stirrups do you use for jumping

Hi all,

Whilst in the school yesterday, my flexi stirrup iron snapped where the mechanism is as i was riding clean in half on one side! I couldn't believe it!! It could have been very dangerous if i was out hacking or jumping!! Therefore i am looking for a new pair and wondered what stirrup irons people recommend, i have been looking at the light weight ones and the coloured ones that seem to have metal/rubber flat treads but have never tried them. I am looking for some that areparticularly comfortable for jumping, theres so many different ones out there. Any suggestions are much appreciated, thank you in advance!
 
This happened to me whilst jumping round a course! Resulted in me hitting the kickboards head first!

I use bog standard bent leg ones now, but will watch this thread with interest.

To be fair, the only pair I've ever had snap and the two I've seen snap were plain old cast stirrup irons like we've all used since the dawn of time. I think it's very rare for any kind of stirrup to break but a bit of an occupational hazard.

Not sure what make mine were (they werent sprengers though), but they werent old. They were the ones with rubber at the sides which covers the join, and the join itself snapped.

Sorry, I didn't mean old stirrups, just that the only pair I've ever had break were the old style solid cast ones. I'm not disputing that stirrups can break, just saying I'm not sure, given the VERY low incidence, you can say one kind is safer than another.

Find them fab, had Sprengers before which i alway thought were the best but i wanted something with better grip and a wider foot. These dont bother my knees like fixed ones do and on the odd occasion i have lost my foot they have been easy to get back. Highly rate them

I have these too, tho mine are all black (older version) :)
Brilliant for me as have very dodgy ankle & cranky hip, no pain with using these but if I go into any 'fixed metal' (have std & also bent irons) and am in agony after 20mins of working or 30mins of hacking.
