Have they ever been known to break?

I got a pair from Derby House about a year ago for £25 and really like them, thought Id try some cheaper ones b4 splashing out on some Sprengers!
But my right one has started making a creeking noise and Im worried its gonna break

Has this been know to happen does anyone know?

I haven't heard of a pair breaking and would hope that they wouldn't as I use them and have just bought another pair in prep for being able to ride again!

The creaking would worry me though!!

Im not sure about the breaking of such but wasnt there discussion regarding the angle of twist and the chance of getting your foot caught in the stirrup?

I've got the Sprenger ones and have had them for about 3 years now and still look like new. Also got some for hubby and his are fine too - no signs of any breakage. I did try the Bow balance ones but didnt see any difference in them and wasnt too keen on the blue colour of them.

I have the barnes buckles and sprenger flexi irons. The irons have been a great help because of my seriouly duff knee and I bought the barnes buckles as an extra safety measure as I'm not as lish as I was 30 years ago.

I developed a bit of hang up about getting my foot stuck and the buckles have removed this entirely.

YO had some cheaper flexi's and they squeaked but she used them for ages with no sign of breaking. Maybe squidging a bit of WD40 down the rubber would help.

Hi' not to worry you, but I bought a cheaper pair of flexi stirrups .. and they did break.. while out hunting!!! I'd advise caution.. mind you mine had' had some heavy weather, hard stand up riding in.. I now use the lightweight black polymer (hope spelt that right).. ones, for jumping and hacking too ..Fantastic!!
