How important is it that a horse passes a 5 star flexion test? If it passes a 3 star and the rider only wishes to do light schooling and hacking. I am interested in a horse that had an accident 18 months ago. The vet has given the all clear but current owners don’t now jump him. I personally would only do very light hacking and schooling and the odd pole clinic. The horse is 11. I just want to know how much importance l should place on the not passing the 5 star flexion. Thank you

You need to ask a vet who sees how the flexion is failed. There are failures I would buy and failures I wouldn't.

It's 5 stage, btw, not 5 star, and 2 stage not 3 stage.

Did you post in Introductions by mistake? You'll get more response in Tack Room.

Thanks for pointing out the errors. That makes sense re the flexions. The owner has told me that the horse has been given the all clear by the vet. The owners just chose not to jump him. Yes l will ask to see how the flexion has failed. Much appreciated

this sounds like the horse has been vetted by the seller. have you had the horse vetted by a vet of your choice? and the vet giving you the relevent info.. if not i wouldnt take the sellers word for what the vet said...that rings alarm bells for me.
