It is really odd, Flick's breath smells odd - not offensive really, but like antiseptic

PLEASE dont tell me this means she needs her teeth doing, it was £245 for Islay

But I will have them done if she needs it of course

The vet did check her when I registered her and said they looked OK though

Perhaps, she has been calming her seperation anxiety by cleaning whilst you're out?? Or she mistook the antiseptic bottle for the mouthwash??

Is there anything in the garden which could possibly whiff like antiseptic if she had a munch?

£245....blimey!! We give ours bones from the butcher once a week, keeps their teeth very clean. Highly unlikely, but if it's sweet smelling that can be a sign of diabetes. That would be accompanied by drinking lots and weeing lots though. Has it been like that a while?

Could there be a chance the dog is diabetic. We had an English Setter and he was aged when he became diabetic (apparently it is rare in dogs more common in bitches) but the breath has an almost sweet sickly smell to it due to ketones or something.

Noooo nothing in the garden - might take her to the vets just to ask them

Hmmm that is a bit worrying about the diabetes thing

I have only owned her about a month, and I think her breath smelled like that when I got her.... she certainly doesnt drink/wee excessively though

Didn't want to be the one who brought it up, because I have no own experience from it, but diabetes was what came up in my mind, after teeth-problem, when reading your post the first time. I have a vague memory in my head of a vet sniffing my dogs breath saying something about a few different smells, but stupidly enough that's all I can remember.

Sympathies from another stressing pet owner in Sweden.

I'm also waiting, but while we're waiting I did a Happy Birthday Breeze_mum post in Soapbox (before seeing the one Anastacia had done in BreedingF), and Tia have taken the opportunity to "send" you a dog-photo.

from Sweden.
