After never having an issue with flies for the last 4 years. This year my 4 year old has little lumps and bumps everywhere from the flies. I'm a little worried some may have turned into sarcoids. She has one hard pea size lump on her neck and a scabby skinless area the size of a £2 coin. Then she has other scabby bits between her legs. Is it true about horses passing sarcoids on to each other? She's in with a mare who is covered in sarcoids. Some of these little marks have lasted weeks. If I'm going to go down the vet route I need to sort insurance but would anyone put anything in particular on them any barriers or anything? I havent used a fly rug all summer as she has never needed one till now. Feeling annoyed at myself as apart from adding a fly rug now im not sure how I can prevent/heal whats already there!

The flies are awful! Don’t feel bad! Try plastering you’re horse with sudocrem - it will heal the bites and stop new flies from landing! That’s what I do x

Well, what is already there is already there. So just prevent more.

Mine lives in his Rambo Protector. Sometimes without the neck piece. And also a fly mask. When it's especially buggy I put Power Phaser Gel between his back legs, on/around his sheath, between his front legs, on his stomach, and underside of neck. A little goes a long way. He's had less lumps and bumps this year. He would really get some swollen bites on his sheath.

I do bathe him in a tea tree oil shampoo every few weeks too, and this has kept down any rubbing.

If you're concerned about sarcoids, call the vet. Then you can treat as soon as possible.
