I need some help, I have never used a fly sheet before but last night by pony looked like she was really being bothered by flies. I used naff off fly spray and had put quite a bit on her but she was constantly kicking up at her tummy. The field she is in is near a wood and they were little midge flies, she has a stable which she has free access to. So do you think a Fly Rug would be the answer? Do you leave them on all the time? What about when its raining? Are they ok to get wet or does it take them ages to dry? What do other people do?

I am getting my horse a Rambo sweetitch hoody which you can buy a waterproof liner for also. The hoody has holes for the ears to go through which you can put a fly mask on and it will stay in place.

Rub vaseline into the coat where they are kicking. Daisy gets flies in two spots, particularly around her teats and between her back legs and it works really well. Spray on the fly spray and then rub a small amount of vaseline over the area while it is wet. It seems to 'hold' the smell of the flyspray so it lasts really well and the flies don't bite through the vaseline. Works perfectly for us and our area is really bad for flies
