Flies!

Is it just me or are there a lot more flies around than normal? I dont mean horse flies, these are just the black house fly things. There seems to be loads more than normal.

We've had loads this year! And bumble bees. Bumble bees is good though. I can't get enthused about the flies.

We seem to have days when there are loads of flies and then suddenly they disappear for a bit with no apparent reason. There were a lot yesterday and today I thought.

Yesterday was horrendous at the horses. Poor Dolly was covered in them, but for some reason, the boys not so much. I wonder if it is because she’s older?

Yes i’ve noticed it too. I think it’s probably something to do with the damp weather we’ve had and warm temperatures.

Here in Bedfordshire too! I can't get over how many flies I've seen on the horses this week, really shocking and I've been commenting on it a lot.

Yes there seem to be loads this year. I also noticed bot eggs on my boy today and I haven't seen those in years. There were a couple of bot flies hanging around too, eugh.

There definitely seem to be loads more this year! Mine haven't been out of fly rugs in weeks, but then we do have a stream through our new field so I think that makes the midges worse. And my mare has mild sweet itch so I'd rather keep her covered up.

Loads more and they seem to be impervious to fly spray including Power Phaser.

Definitely, had to dig fly masks out for 2 today, haven't used them for a couple of years !

At work the flies are nasty, horseflies and the regular black ones.
My horses are a few miles up the road. I haven’t seen a horsefly here all summer and the normal kind, barely any really. So weird
