Flights to Zangersheide

Hi I am thinking about flying out to Zangersheide for the open days next month, but cant seem to find which would be the best airport? Does anyone have any ideas and how easy it is to get to from the airport? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ps, is anybody else planning on flying out there?
 
I would LOVE to go and see that stud - purely to see where my boy comes from!
Think I would end up buying another horse though!
 
Last year we flew into Cologne and then hired a car and drove the rest of the way. Was a nice and easy journey. I would love to be able to go back this year but unfortunately work committments mean I cannot.
Lillyput - the dates are the 13th and 14th of February.
 
I think it's actually the 14th & 15th of February, and agree it was a valuable trip! Really interesting to see which stallions catch the eye in the flesh as opposed to on paper.
 
As one of the trio who flew into Cologne .... we did this because although Maastricht airport is much closer, its not easy to get direct flights there from the UK. Living near Gatwick, we found that there were cheap flights to Cologne, and hiring a car for a couple of days was not dear. But if you consider this, DO get a car with SatNav - I've never used this before, but it was essential to get us to Lanaken, and the trip was very easy with that guidance ... motorway almost all the way. There are also several good B&Bs in Lanaken/close by - I think that Zangersheide have a list of these.

Enjoy! We found it a great trip; we saw some of the "greats" and some of the very impressive up-and-coming youngsters ... And some look so different in the flesh from their photos in the catalogue!
 
Try flying to Brussels and then getting car, we've done that in the past, it take about two hours from Brussels to Lanaken on easy roads.

I think that Liege is even closer to Lanaken, but don't know if it's easy to fly there.

Either way it's a great weekend and you learn so much.
 
Other airports to consider:
- Eindhoven (the Netherlands) 88 km to Lanaken, about an hour's drive on main highways. (Via Rynair: London Stansted-Eindhoven)
- Liege (Luik = dutch name, Belgium) 45 km to Lanaken, about 45 minutes drive (not all highways). Not really an option as this is an internal airport where flight leave for Spain enz.
- Charleroi (Belgium), 125 km to Lanaken, about 1.5 hrs drive (1hr on highways) (Via Ryanair: Manchester-Charleroi).
