Flint is back up for sale!!!!!!

But what has that got to do with anything Horsegirl? He didn't sell for that as if I remember correctly, people told him that he wouldn't get 4.5k for him and so the price was amended.

A few people should phone and see what happens. How horrible of her to not let you have first refusal. That could be because she is going to try and get 4k for him and make a nice profit for herself.

Also yes not nice for him to have 1st refusal but then if she wants to make a profit she is not going to do that selling him back to the same person. Why is it so wrong for her to make a profit on him, has no on else on here bought a horse cheap and sold on to make money??

Unfortunately ppl DO lie through their teeth - not all, but some.
I sold my TB for peanuts because he was difficult, all i wanted was a nice home for him. turns out 2 months later after said girl had tried to dominate him (which he wouldnt have) she put him up for sale for x5 times more than I got for him.
He thankfully went to a loving home and was very happy. But the advert was completely crap.
His passport wasnt passed on to the new owner because they would have known the seller was lying!.
Sad state of affairs, but at least in the end my horse found a nice home.
Shame ppl have to be so dishonest, but thats life.

I still cant understand why P sold Flint in the first place.

I sold a horse a few years back, only to find 4 months later he was back up for sale with a pack of lies. It is very disappointing and I nearly bought him back myself, however there were reasons I didn't and he is now in a new, great home enjoying himself and I've been in contact with the new owners and explained what had happened. At the end of the day the horse is happy and new owner is happy so that is all that matters. However, if you are in a position to buy him back...!

What does she say that is untrue? She implies that she has had him ages but she actually says "a while" which could mean anything. She doesn't mention the riggy behaviour but then neither did Flintus in his ad. I stil don't see what is so wrong?

Well, I am a believer in fate. In the time since you have sold Flint you haven't found another horse you like, and you compare them all to him. I would certainly try to buy him back, but you may have to negotiate over the price! Good luck.

She also lies about his age and says he is safe and sensible - as I remember it he is very quirky and rears and bucks, so that is extremely misleading IMO.

Pete I think you should try and buy him back, but only for the price you sold him for. I would approach it nicely, but if she doesn't cooperate then you might want to mention how misleading she is being, and hint something about the law. Not that I know if you have a leg to stand on, but the suggestion of it might scare her.

At the end of the day though, if you really do want him back, then I would try and get him even if you have to pay more. What's more important, money or a horse you love?

It's horrible when you think you've chosen the perfect home and then they sell. It was hell when I wanted to sell one of my horses, I chose what I understood would be "a home for life" (THEIR WORDS!) however after a year, he was sold on again. I was annoyed because he's actually quite old (late teens) and they sold him claiming he was younger!! I sold him so he could have a quieter life, he's still out competing now at the level I had him at! Luckily I know where he is and it does seem to be a lovely home, but I still feel he should be retired now...

That's the worst bit, as soon as you accept the money then that's it. You loose all control of the horse and you can never trust their word!

Firstly, thanks for the responses on this- and majority supportive.

Secondly, I would like to clear a couple of things up for people so they have a better understanding of what happened and where I am now.
I started a new job in July of last year- it was in Banbury so quite a distance- I was up early and back late- and Flint wasnt getting the attention and work load that he needed. After many months and no work I decided to try and find him a home that was suitable, for life and one that was understanding of him. Flint can be riggy, he is also unpredicatble, he can rear, he does buck occassionaly and prefers company when hacking, he can also be a menace when in open spaces- and he is good at XC- if he is following another horse, i.e- Pairs HT or TC. He also isnt the age he is, and I would also assume they have not changed the name on the passport because nothing has been sent to me from the agency to say have I sold the horse, which this passport agency does.

Horsegirl- can I just say I dont think he ever went up for 4.5k. I asked peoples advice on here and they said I wouldnt get it, I dropped the price many times from 3.5k to 3k (pple pointed ot this was a better price for him)
Along came these people who had hear about him and they tried him, and they came across as really great people. After a couple of tries they bought him, a home for life they said- what more could I want?? I dropped the price MORE so (to 2k if you are that interested. will all tack-includ Jaguar bridle and saddle) on the proviso that IF they wanted to sell, IF he wasnt what they wanted then I would get 1st refusal... I never did. So, I will say, you remembered wrongly, you are also missing the point completly as to why I am upset, I am more upset that he is up for sale again...be it for £50 or 4k.
I may also add, when I placed the advert I never said he mixed with mares or geldings- when I spoke to people on the phone I explained the situation to them and that they could see the vet report. He COULD mix with mares and geldings but expect him to attack the boys and try and mount the mares. So I do think the add is misleading

If I was in your postition I would buy him back... You obviously love this horse an awful lot and as the ad is misleading (which I think it is) you are now wondering what sort of person he is going to end up with, and then more so what will happen to him.

I don't think you would ever be able to stop thinking about him if you did not try to buy him back...

I am going to do my best- then if I dont have him back- atleast I tried, didnt I.

Go for it - it would be a lovely ending to the story.

I suspect it is more likely they have seen that their ad has been picked up on and some information corrected... which rightly it should be!

I will never understand why someone lies about a horse they are trying to sell. Mine would be sold with warts and all, then at least the people buying would know exactly what to expect.

Maybe they come on here ,maybe they got another passport, maybe they are lying b*****ds.
Think its sad ,I hate to sell horses and try to keep them for life as I don't trust anyone else to look after them for life

I agree.

I hope we haven't buggered this up for you

Bad/sad news I am afraid- I have just spent many minutes on the phone to my bank- who will not lend me the money to buy him back. My CR is not good enough. I have already spoken in length to my parents who say they cannot lend me the money either (which I fully understand as I am still in debt to them of the tune of 15k!!!) Looks like he will be going to someone else. I am upset by it all... Thank you for all the kinds words and support- it meant alot peeps

Very odd if it is flint as she contradicts many of the things Flintus has said. She says he's good in open spaces, doesnt rear or buck, is good XC (ODE), good with mares or geldings(strange thing to put in an ad IMO). It's almost as if she has read F's description and written the opposite. Either she is a fantastic rider and has sorted out the problems or some unsuspecting buyer is going to get a bit of a surprise.

Flintus- How old is Flint?

I have learnt from past expeariences that if you want controll of your horses future then dont sell them on, if you are stuck then loan or turn them out untill you know for sure what you want to do.

I have sold four horses, two of them are in fantastic homes but still who knows what will happen.

One was a pony and I had asked for my details to be passed on if sold and they never did, I managed to contact them ad they just said they had been sold and that was that!

The other is just for sale again at the moment, I did ask for first refusal back but they never bothered to ask, I asked them not to forget to pass my details on and that some of the details on the add are wrong. Something is going on, they dont need to lie, she is a good mare??
