Has anybody had problem of synthetic flocking in Kieffer saddles making horse's back a bit sore. Thinking of changing mine to wool flocking as physio says its so rock hard at mo (saddle is new).

German saddles normally have wool flock but so much gets crammed in that it feels "solid". If its a problem during the breaking in process then get it removed and replaced with less wool flock as its the quantity not the quality that tends to affect the firmness of the panel
Unless you have a preformed plastic/latex panel then TBH you are stuffed as to put flock in means a new panel...

Our saddler told us Kieffer saddles are flocked by machine rather than hand so can be hard/lumpy - easy to get reflocked though if it causes a problem which to OH's mare it hasn't (her's actually doesn't feel too hard.

He also said it was synthetic

My kieffer is lovely and soft. My mare goes fabulously in it and it is brands new. I expect it will need reflocking after the 9 weeks though. But im happy at the mo!
