Flooded

Thank you for the update, I think it is easy for us to for get that people are still struggling and will not be back in their homes for months. It must be a relief to get at least some undercover stabli sorted. Hope water recedes quickly, at least this week seems to be dry.

Thanks for the update OP, Reading it is hard i can only imagine how difficult it is, i hope youre covered by insurance so that everything that was wasted in the water can be replaced. I hope that the water recedes quickly and we get dry weather to help the ground dry up.

Good news the cavalry turned up today, men with all fancy pumps, supplied by the insurance company, so in one afternoon the arena reamerged, fingers crossed We can start clearing the big stables tomorrow night, OH has said I can borrow his portable floodlights that he uses for football training so hopefully all ponies & horses might be back in there own houses by the weekend! Just a small matter of clearing 3 wet deep littered stables, pushing barrows thru sludge, well at least this week I can eat as much chocolate as I like & if some one could put Xmas back a week it would be appreciated.

Gosh, just read this thread. What a time you've had OP. Hats off to you and especially your YO for your hard work and positive morale. I can't imagine how awful it must have been.

We live in one of the wettest areas of England (IMO!) with land that gets boggy very quickly, but thankfully we've never known flooding (touch wood). The pennines seems to deal with never ending rain.

My heart goes out to anyone suffering loss from the floods. We live in Holland, in the area that was devastated by the floods of '53. The village we live in was the only place in the area that stayed above water. God knowshow! This worry is always in the back of miy mind when the rain doesn't stop. I've often joked about buying waterwings to fit to the horses and our other animals just in case.
The Dutch government learnt a painful lesson then and now we have the best flood defences in the world. If global warming continues though, we're buggered!

Being able to eat chocolate has to be a positive. Your YO does sound to be great, and good news that extra help arrived. Fingers crossed for you everything goes on improving.
