Floor covering for mobile stables

For a mobile stable in a grass field (not just a field shelter but a stable) Please can anyone advise what to put on the ground underneath the bedding to stop the wet/cold coming through?! Rubber mats are an obvious choice (but expensive!) so just wondering if anyone has had success with anything else!!

I have mobile stables and have been lucky enough to get away with using just shavings on the floor with no mats as they've never let water in or leaked

Gravel, railway sleepers, rubber matting for pigs is cheaper, flags

Thank you, I will look into sand or gravel, technically both could be 'removed' so still counts as being mobile!

My field stables just have straw and the floor is only wet where they wee,

Road planings are great. Even better to go on top if you can get hold of them are those heavy rubber crumb playground mats

We have a mobile stable, and use thick rubber matting on it, covered in shavings, but it is on gravel so couldn't leave it without matting!

hi i have patio slabs then rubber mats been down for 6 yrs now and work great
