I have a new horse she has a slight cough only usually with in the first five minutes of work, she is in quarantine for 14 days on the yard,i have noticed today her bottom lip seems slightly floppy on the left side, any one any ideas,i wonder if she may have bumped it as its looks slightly swollen,i cannot see any obvious damage.

have to say, some horses have naturally floppy lips but the swelling sounds peculiar. i'd just keep an eye on it and the coughing to see if it progresses

Hi, this is usually paralysis on the side of the face concerned usually due to damaged nerves. Maybe a blow or a fall etc. Although it looks a little strange it does not usually cause the horse any problems. Is there any droopiness to the ear or eye?
