I have a sixteen one french trotter mare who I have been looking to breed for quite some time now. I saw Floriscount and although he does not have enormous floating paces like some of the other stallions I've looked at, I really liked the look of him.

Firstly a bit about the mare: She is a french trotter and therefore struggles with her canter, it sometimes slips in to four time, although she has really come on in leaps and bounds compared to how she was when I started with her (or when she started with me). She has the most amazing work ethic and just tries her heart out, very rarely complains about anything. She can be a bit moody, but never bites or kicks. She is built medium -ishly down hill, like when you're looking at her it's clearly visible and she has very flat paces.

Floriscount actually appears to be built ever so slightly up hill, so this is definitely a plus and he scored a 10 in his 70 day test for his canter, a nine point 5 for his trot and and an 8.5 of something for his walk so if this breeding went according to plan then the foal would be pretty good (of course it is all chance). The only thing I don't know about is his temperament (I've heard good things but of course never met him so I was wondering if anyone knew anything about his temperament or had foals by him and what are they like? and the only thing is, I don't want something massive, but everything else about him balances out the mare so perfectly that if he had a good temperament and the foal didn't turn out to be nuts that I wouldn't even mind... I don't know what to do??!!!

I have a 2011 floriscount filly - temprament wise she is smart, calm & bold and is a nice person. She is quite refined in type though doesnt have particularly long legs and is quite deep bodied - though she would take both of the last 2 things from her dam. She is built uphill though not massively and has never at any time grown croup first.

She got a 9.25 & 9.5 as a yearling at Futurity for her vet mark and overall was a 1st prem. But didnt get amazing marks for her movement, however, i kind of believe this is down to her being fairly laid back and she didnt particularly light up and show herself off properly.

I havent seen any other Floriscount offspring in the flesh but based on what he produced for me i'm fairly happy. Hope that helps.
