I post about him all the time on Facebook but havent updated here since the early days. Hes been the best and easiest dog I have ever owned! Hes such a bright, trainable dog most of which I am sure is down to genetics. I'd like to take credit and we did put a lot of time in, but actually hes just a cool dude! Hes working/racing bred with parents that were terrible workers as they couldnt be bothered. I am thrilled to have found him, he is exactly as I hoped he would be with his breeding.
His eyes never went dark but they are now a greeny hazel rather than bright blue. Initially he grew and grew and grew and I wondered what I had bought, but hes levelled off now and I think he will stay a biggish whippet but not the mutant I thought he was going to be. He gets on brilliantly with my other dog and despite all my worries, my other dog loves him. He does still look at me sometimes and I know hes wondering when Floyd will go home, but on the whole they are really good friends and play together loads. I think we are all glad we have him
He is however an adolescent whippet and sometimes he is an absolute git! But on the whole he is amazing! We fell into scent work by accident and he loves it! My OH has to do it with him as I am really struggling physically at the minute, and my OH has never trained a dog before. Floyd knows and will quite often double check that he has seen him find the scent and will quite often do an exaggerated double check in to make sure the OH knows and has seen. I'm not sure if he is training Floyd or if Floyd is training him  They adore each other and it has been lovely for me to see my OH who has never had a pet before he met me, form such a close bond with Floyd. Dylan loves my OH but is first and foremost MY dog, whereas Floyd is fast and loose with his affection
The plan is to carry on the scent training and add in some agility when he is fully grown. He can jump like a gazelle and loves to sleep on top of his crate and climb, so I think he will do as well at agility as he does at scent training
Obligatory pics of the best dog I've ever owned!
His first day at home:
Getting his feet under the table:
Innocently stealing the washing basket lid and bringing it to show me  This is him to a tee!
No we didnt buy the rug to match the dog
Giving my lovely old man the run about!
and one that shows how big he is. The black dog is a working bred whippet, 21/22TTS and almost certainly with a bit of bull in him as hes got a butt JLo would be proud of!
I cant believe how worried I was, but equally I cant believe how easy it was to raise this lovely, charming, well behaved dog
Dylan has all the stereotypical "bad" whippet traits, Floyd has none of them. I adore Dylan beyond words and he is my best friend, but the difference having a puppy from the start and taking on a messed up 14 week old demon has been massive!
