I'll not give whole story as to how it has happened (just typed it out and sounds a load of waffle) but somehow my horse has had flu and tet done again this year instead of just flu but she was done later than last year by 6 days. I know even one day over due is not allowed but is this for the tet or the flu? I will want to compete this year but at unaff places. My question is do I need to start them again - if so I have a couple of weeks to organise this or am I fine as she didn't need tet done this time anyway.

99% certain it's the flu jab that can't go over time. A couple of people I know have had to start their horses vaccinations over again recently as they got overlooked. Best ring your vet and check

Drat - was hoping it was the tet...oh well will give them a call. They can do her when they come to sedate the cob for his head shave

Afraid that it is the flu that is th relevant one. However, not all venues insist on up-to-date flu so it might be worth checking. British Dressage do not require flu at all below FEI level.

you will need to start the vaccines over again. 1st jab then second between 90 and 150 days and 3rd one 6 months later, then annually. however your horse is still covered for flu and tet, but if you want to go affiliated or on a race course or to a county show you will need to re do his vaccine record. talk to your vet for conformation as to days in between vaccines.

It is flu i'm afraid, tet only needs to be done every 2 years. If you're hoping to compete i'd restart to be on the safe side. There needs to be 21-90 days between 1st and 2nd vaccs, then 3rd is done 150-215 days later (usually 6 months as it's easy to remember)

Grudging thanks everyone.

I think (though there is no hope of competing drastically this year....or any in the near future as I am crap!) I will get her re-started in next week or so just in case in the future someone better than me rides her. I can count the one she just had as first and then get her done when cob needs his head shaved, then last one will probably be when cob needs another shave...although I'm hoping clipping the cob frequently might get him more used to it - we have got him to accept everything but the head now, which is progress.
