Flu/tet side effects?

Hi

My boy had his flu/tet jab on tuesday, also had dentist same day so was sedated. Came round from sedation fine after about an hour, seemed ok for rest of day eating/drinking etc. Yesterday he came in as lame as a duck, hobbled up lame in both front and hind leg on side of flu/tet jab, checked him over thoroughly there was no swelling anywhere, no heat, no injuries/stones to feet. Turned him back out (own paddock), this morning still really lame but a swelling to Flu/tet jab site which he is really reluctant to let me touch. Have phoned vets they advised that this might be due to swelling at injection site and if its not sorted after weekend to give them a call. Anyone else had this after flu tet jab - seem to recall reading something on here but cant find it. Thanks

One of mine reacts very badly to his jabs....I had to start them all again when I bought him and its the same after each one he's had.

Within hours of having it he is walking sideways- almost scuttling like a crab- can't turn his head to look at you, he has to tun his whole body....and can't get his head to the floor to graze. I have to put him in paddock on his own with a raised water bucket and a haynet....

2 days later he's back to normal.....
 
My horse came down with a mystery recurring virus after having flu/tet and wormer close together. It took him 2 years to come right and he still has poor patches in winter. On vet recommendation he only has the tet now (he isnt competing, my other horse is vaccinated for flu and as vet said, the flu wont kill him but the reaction might).

It was an easier decision for me as he is basically retired apart from occasional hack in sparsely populated area.

I would be very reluctant to continue to vaccinate a horse that has those side effects, tho it might be that a different brand of flu vaccine would be OK for him, worth discussing that with vet. If competing I guess it might be poss to get a vet certificate stating why he's not vacc'd.
