Hey!
Do livery yards usually require you to have your horses flu vaccined? I am moving Oscar onto a public livery yard (from private) and dont know if i need him vaccinated against it?

His tetnus is up to date.

I will phone yard on monday to find out for sure but wondered if you guys had them done or not?

Thanks

it generally depends on the individual yard. Some places insist on it,others don't. I have my horses vaccinated but that is through personal choice. I would ask and see what their rules are.

Mine is up to date with hers as I want to compete, however my yard does not stipulate either way

i keep my girl's vaccs upto date. When i got her the prev owner only bothered with Tetnus but I personally think they are both important.

Esp. if u are keeping him/her on a yard with alot of other horses about & wish to compete. - alot of comps require u to have them.

Plus, some insurance companies will sting u if u try to claim and havent got all ur vaccs upto date, (as this is classed as preventative care) even if the claim has no relevence what-so-ever! So in my opinnion, I would deffinately get them both done :)
