ahhh, i bought a sheepskin numnha a few months back and it was lovely anf fluffy, it got dirty, naturally, and i washed it and it went all ikky, and stiff, the sheepskin went all rough and its not fluffy any more argh! I also bought a halfpad wither sheepskin pad for my TB, and i washed that after a while and its gone the same way! Its clean but it looks rough and tacky nw!! has any one got any washing tips or products that will maintain my sheepskin materials looking ood and fluffy??

i've had my sheepskin saddle pad for 2 years and still fluffy. I was told to always wash on cold, or wool wash and its vital that you let it dry naturally. If you dry it on radiator they do dry out. I also brush mine with a velcro brush (its like having another pet!!) I don,t use any products. Hope this helps!!

I have two sheepskin numnahs and when I bought the first I was advised to get a bottle of cheap human hair conditioner, and to rub this into the sheepskin before putting in the washing machine - must be left to dry naturally. Mine have stayed beautifully soft and the hair has not matted together.

Use a washing powder specifically for wool too - woolite? Or soap flakes but I think you might have wash by hand if you use these. They're pretty old fashioned, but you might still get them in the supermarkets.

I have got several sheepskin lined sadle cloths and numnahs, best thing I found is the wash stuff that is marketed by the Nu Med people, one of mine is positively ancient and is still soft and fluffy, oh and no drying on radiators, tumble dryers or the like.

I don't wash mine very often as they take AGES to dry

but I do give them a rub with a plastic currycomb to get all the icky dry sweat out and fluff them up when they've got a bit stiff.
