hi does anyone else's horses coat look thick and fluffy as if getting ready for winter.
My traditional cob is like this, he is 14 yrs old was last clipped end of feb, and now looks thick and fluffy again, its 2inches long on his bum.
I really dont know what to do with him he is so hot and sweaty on exercise then blowing a lot
and thinking about it last year from june he didnt seem to stop moulting till sept,
and is just starting to moult a bit now.

thanks for reading

Some horses just tend to have a long coat and never seem to get rid of it. I would clip hi out if he is getting hot it will be so much nicer for him and easier for you

thing is he never used to be like this he always grew a beautiful summer coat, every year from being a foal, as ive had him all his life,
and as i do a lot of driving and weddings with him i really don't know how to sort him out
It wouldn't be linked to an illness would it (cushings maybe)?

A healthy horse should have a summer coat, have you thought of having blood tests done? Health is shown in their coats, I just feel that 14 is too young for cushings but I could be wrong.
