My yearling colt has a really spongy knee - i think its full of fluid. It happend at a show (still showed and won, but judge did mention it, but i said it just happened as it did). He banged it off side of trailer. He's not lame, its not hot or sore just big and spongy. Anyone else had this with horses?

I might take him to vet and see what they say and hope that mayb it just needs drained.

I had a lot of problems with my mare who capped her knee in the stable.
I used ice and a magnetic wrap which I found worked really well, unfortunately she always seemed to be prone to swelling on it after that but she was a lot older and as we all know the healing process isn't quite so good as we get older.
Would definately use magnets, ice and arnica too!

My horse used to bang the door with his knee, I never witnessed him doing it for ages and until I did never realised why his knee was so big. I got the vet as at first I thought it was a kick and she said knees were notorious for swelling and that it could take a long time to go down and just to cold hose it and basically wait. I carpeted his door, cold hosed it and it went down and looks normal now. It did take weeks.
