My mare has a fly bite - she gets it in the same place every year, on her chest between her front legs. She wears a fly sheet and mask but the flies are constantly chewing this spot. Its now a hole the size of a 10p and quite deep.
Things I have tried:
Vaseline, Summer Fly cream, all fly sprays inc home made, sudocream, wound seal spray, wound powder.
Whatever I put on only lasts a couple of hours then either rubs off or the flies get through it.
It must be driving her mad as she can't flick the flies away where it is.
I wish there was some kind of tape that would stick to fur to keep them off but I'm all out of idea's.
Its only going to get worse so I'd really appreciate some tips/advice.

It's also used for sheep and cattle, it's actually more of a dark grey powder

You can get it at any agri. store or co-op, and it's also available from most vets.

carriage@freeuk.com go on this web page and get a secrat reciepe thomas is an fei driving and ridng school owner
has made a agood cure but sells it for £10.00 all donations to cancer research as he to has had cancer
he riases money all over the world for cancer research
and this stuff works but all he asks you dont tell no one how to make it all ingrediants are secret xx

And once the hole has cleared up and it's just a bald patch of skin, apply cornucresine to it daily, it's brilliant stuff and will help the hair grow back quite quickly.

I would put the tcp and eucalyptus oil on the wound and put some Stockholm tar around the wound- its blac sticky stuff and will make ur horses coat a bit icky but the flies hate it!

why not try adapting a vest to cover the bite?? you can get the ones that fasten around the girth so it wont come off then just cut it down a bit so it isnt too much in the heat, might do the trick!

At the size of a 10p piece, a bit deep and oozing, I think you could do with a vet checking it out.
