HI -
I have a problem with my horse - he is a fly magnet! With the result that he is eaten alive by flies every summer. Last year I had a local tack shop make him fly wraps - they are not great and I would rather get some that actually worked and fitted properly. As the UK has a larger selection I was hoping someone on the forum could recommend a brand for me and then I can purchase them over the internet and get them shipped to South Africa.
ALL recommendations appreciated and ANY other advice you might have.
Thanks a mill in advance ;)

Cashel make them - don't know how to post a link tho'! They have a thick binding round the edges which leave an indentation on the skin. Causes no problems if you adjust the tension as you put them on.

I've used the Rambo ones all summer and they have helped my sensitive TB no end, really pleased with them. I did find they stretch a bit and are quite generous in sizing. Ride-Away stock them but think out of stock now till the Spring.

Instead of looking at leg wraps, why not treat the full horse with Avon Skin So Soft Dry Oil, our sensitive TB didn't look back this summer and didn't need his flysheet, horses don't object to it as there is no hiss and Avon have a website, you need to get the green SSS, a bonus is their tails are easily groomed as well

Don't underestimate Avon SSS, a lot of army personel use it while on duty abroad,
I do know I used it on our horses and they were fly free, while I had a swarm round me, I now use it even while poo picking.
ps I am not an Avon rep, just very impressed with this product

RE : AVON SS:
Went and googled the product and found the following - it might just work!!!!!

"Tsetses. I've found the answer!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all.

I'm back after nearly 4 weeks in Zambia, and thought I would share a breakthrough I have made in the fight against the Tsetse. In all the time we were in tsetse country we had not a single bite on exposed skin amongst three of us after applying a sweet-smelling women's skin care product.........Avon Skin-So-Soft.

The effect lasts 4 or 5 hours, and it is a pleasant product with no side effects or ghastly smell like Dettol (which needs constant re-application). I got bitten through my socks and shirt, but not once on exposed skin, and at times we must have had 100+ tsetses in the car. I didn't even bother brushing the things away from my legs or arms, as they just never bit.

So, before you head off into Zambia, Zim etc, give you local Avon Lady a ring and buy yourself a couple of bottles of this skin conditioner. It will transform your holiday!"
