Madam had a bit of a watery eye last night so gave it a clean up, its just as bad this morning so gave it a cold tea bath and popped her mask on, telling her to not take it off (she has a habit of removing it if she doesn't deem it appropriate).

I always check that its not fouling her eyes, a process that involves lots of adjusting. Have decided that there must be a better mask out there for us.

Current one is a le mieux, it was brilliant last summer but this year the darty sticky out bits don't line up with her eyes.

Just want one that i can put on and feel confident that it wont touch her eyes.

I use the Shire ones, I find they don't rub the horse and the netting is fine so easy to see through compared to a number that I have seen. I have one on a cob and a Thoroughbred and have never had an issue with them caving in :)

I always use the shires ones, i get a new one every year as mare trashes them! this year they seem better with lots of thick fleece to stop rubbing. Never had a problem with the eye darts, always puffy and well away from the eyes :)

What size has everyone got? Ie do any of these come up a bit bigger/smaller than you expected? My horse is a crillo x tb, 15hh and wears a full in some things but can wear cob in others. Just want to get the fit right.

I like to use boett hats. Great fine mesh and it covers the ears as well. Also hard to get off and a field safe headcollar can be popped on top and put through a loop at the top.

I have a cashel one. They are very good and come in a variety of styles and are accurate on sizes. They also give good UV protection.

I have equilibrium both with and without ears and have had them for years and they never touch her eyes . she is 15.2 warmblood cross and I use the full size ones.

One of my pets hates is them caving in towards the eyes,I avoid the fine mesh ones because of this as I think they're worse for it. I had a horseware one that was good but just too big for my horses fine head. I've a bog standard no frills shires one that's been going a few years now & never goes near the eyes. I had a lovely, expensive equilibrium mask for my head shaking horse, this stayed well out of eyes but unfortunately it's gone walk about, replaced it with a really nice Lemieux one that wasn't mega expensive & I like it as much as the equilibrium one,it's padded inside with sheepskin which I'm liking as I can't always get back at night to take masks off so they stay on quite a few days at a time quite often, also the sheepskin keeps it lifted well away from the eyes,it's a great fit & has double lock velcro to fasten it which is keeping it really secure so it's not getting dislodged with playing & rolling!

The only one Ive found that stays and doesn't cave in is from the states. Its called an equine sun visor.
My mare has glaucoma so needs to wear one all year round. She very rarely takes this off and its done the whole winter and this spring/summer (haha , if thats what you call it).
Not the cheapest, and takes a while to arrive, but I'm going to buy one each for all the other horses on the yard.
