Is it just my cob, or do other riders have a tussle to put a fly mask on their horse. Once on he is ok, but the process to get there is frustrating. My daughters horse loves hers, she would put it on herself if she could. Horses and their ways....

It took me over six months to train my grey to wear her fly mask without a kerfuffle to get it on.

The chestnut gelding is very ear-shy and I thought that there was no way that he'd wear one. Then yesterday, when I took my chestnut mare's fly mask off he was sniffing at it and I was able to slip it on with no trouble. :) This morning he let me put one on with no fuss at all and has been happily wearing it all day (still has it on now :) ).

Horses do have funny ways. ;)

I think it depends on how much they dislike the flies and also how smart they are at working things out for themselves.

I can wave Elz fly mask at her from the gate and she'll come up and drop her head for it. She HATES flies!!:D
