Fly repellant tags and collars?

Do they work ? I'm going on holiday next week so would like to get something to leave on my mare to help her as I won't be there to but fly spray on. My local tack shop sells both so I don't know which to get. Are they safe to leave on when in a field with other horses? If I comes off it may not be found for a few days until I get back but I can't personally see any problems with that. And advice and personal experience welcome! Would you reccomend them?

I didn't find them very effective, what about using one of the long lasting pour on repellents.

I'm not sure where I would get that as I don't think they have it in the tack shop but I will have a look
