Has anyone got any experience or thoughts on these?

I've never come across them before but the horse flies are terrible this year and none of the fly sprays are having any effect at all. Is this worth a go?

My partner buys these from Poundland or Poundstretcher and we either tie to the mane or put on the front strap of a fly rug (in those horses that don't destroy fly rugs) lol.

Is it yet full on horse fly season? If so we are getting away incredibly lightly this year.
I thought it wasn’t quite time but from Pinks reply maybe not!

I don’t think anything gets rid of them. Awful things.
They normally start late May June here and are really bad never known so many my horses are covered in bites as am I, even my oh is getting bitten using our gym which is in the garage.

We are even being attacked when horses tied up outside stables never known that before I'm killing loads every day, I'm riding early any later than 11am and it's lethal.

Sounds horrific. I was sure they were around by now but kept thinking they must appear later than I’d remembered.

Weird, not complaining though!

Are they effective for the flies around the horses faces/eyes? Theses seem to be worse than usual this year. Their masks are covered in flies and around their nostrils and lips where I can't put repellent.

Someone in our village has one of these in her 2 acre paddock with 3 ponies in, Voss "Tabanus-Trap Edge" horse fly trap, she swears by it and says it's worth every penny, yes it's no good when out hacking , (sorry I dont know how to transfer details. )

Thanks for the replies. I'll give them a miss :)

I have some fly traps on order but they seem to be taking weeks to arrive! But they seem well worth a go and I'm happy to play the long term game with them. I think I might also try some of the striped fly rugs etc to see if they help at all. In the meantime if anyone hears of any miracle cures please do let me know!

Not sure as I don't like leaving a head collar on so it's a bit far from the chest strap.
