Fly repellent supplements

What are the best supplements to help repel flies in summer months, do they actually work?
Also what fly sprays do people tend to find work best?
Asking for opinions before the flies start coming out in force again! Not sure whether to put my boy on a supplement or just stick to sprays as much as he’s not a fan of these.
Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

I spray mine with diluted deosect, which seems to do a good job. Bit stinky though!

We use Flyfree on the one with sweetish. Seems to help.
Also last year found CDM fly repellent the most effective.

Power Phazer is the best spray we’ve used, fly free repellent did nothing for mine!

Not sure any supplements are going to be as effective as a spray personally, garlic used to be recommended but I can’t remember it doing anything

I’ve used phazer in the past and have known it to work really well, just wasn’t sure if there was anything a bit cheaper what works just as good but have a feeling I’ll probably stick with that!

I've used Power Phazer which seems to work well. I'm tempted to try Hedgewitch this year too, I've heard good things about it.

I haven't tried a supplement, but following just incase someone recommends something worth trying. I'm tempted to get her the garlic horslyx, but not sure it'll actually do anything!

I’ve never tried a supplement but didn’t know if any would be helpful for when the spray stops working just to minimise any bites

I tried several fly supplements for at least 2 months each, I'm not sure they made any difference.

The absolute best sprays are the ones which contain pyrethins, it's the stuff they impregnate fly rugs with.

There's none licensed for use on horses in the UK, however if you look at the US websites they have horse licenses so you may be fine with it. I use over the fly rugs, lasts days. Asorbine Ultra Black and Tritec 14 can be bought in the UK.

Power phaser is the best in my opinion, carr day and martins extra strength fly spray is also pretty good and a bit cheaper

Sorry to thread hijack but I was going to post a related question anyway.
Can I have suggestions for fly creams for sensitive skin please. My gelding is bothered by flies in front of his sheath but when I use either Biteback cream or Summer Freedom cream on the area he reacts to it.

I fed my lad Brinicombe think fly granules one year, definitely got left alone by everything, it was excellent, but my god he stunk Could smell it coming through his pores and after a month or so he decided he didn't want to eat it. If you haven't got a fussy eater, I'd definitely recommend trying it.

I use Equimins Biting Midge Cream - mainly for midges, but it does keep other flying things away as well.
