Does anyone know how well a fly rug will clean if it went to be done properly?
I've put mine in the washing machine but it made no difference
I've also tried scrubbing with with a stiff brush but that also didn't work

Mine came up a treat in the washing machine in a wash bag with gentle detergent - if that doesn't work I'd send it off to a rug cleaners?

Mine go in the washing machine in an old duvet cover . . . always works, but then I do wash pretty frequently so they don't get too minging to start with. Perhaps try the laundrette - their machines might be more powerful?

In the few weeks Mollie had her £62 brand new fly rug this summer, she comlpetely shredded it and tore the buckles off.

I don't think it will be going in the washing machine, I think it will have to go in the bin. :(

Try a sweet itch hoody. Our rug wrecker is on her third season with hers. Only one hole in it so far.. They're a bit more expensive, but worth it!

I just bung mine in the wash. They get done weekly as my mare has sweetitch so I like it to be nice and clean as she is always in it! She does manage to do a v good job of grinding mud through it so it isn't sparkly white anymore, but it is 'clean' ifswim.
I always rinse first and turn the spin off so it sits in the water for a bit for a soak before running a wash as usual.
