I'm on the hunt, again, for a fly rug for J. I had a weatherbeeta one for years that was a perfect fit but it finally died beyond repair last year and the weatherbeeta one that looks the same (Comfitec Airflow) does not fit at all, rubbing on withers and chest. I've tried a Mark Todd one which slipped badly and also rubbed his withers and a Derby House which rubbed his chest. What do people find work with cobs? J has big shoulders and a bit of wither, we need a belly flap and one that doesn't have the ears bit. On a bit of a budget but most important is a rug that actually fits, clegs will be out soon and they eat him alive. Thanks

I find shires highlander work well on my cobs. They would be a 6’6 in weatherbeeta but 6’3’ in a highlander. I’ve just ordered a waterproof back one which has a belly flap. I’ll let you know how it fits.

I've got really heavy cobs and the only rugs that fit are the 'broad fit' versions from the big horse shop.

They've got lots of fly rugs, quality and price are good and mine are in daily use through the summer, 2 per horse washed regularly and still great after 2 years use.

I also found the stretch body suit type from snuggy hoods fit well but the stitching round the front went quite quickly. I know others who have got on with them fine though, possibly my horses are too wide.

I've got an Amigo Mio for mine.

Tried "Gallop", Weatherbeeta, and another one (can't remember what now, sorry!). All too small and had trouble getting all of the straps on them to meet under mare's tummy (ohh the shame!).

Went back to Amigo Mio as this is what I had for my old boy who was a traddie cob (like the coblet I have now). Not the cheapest out there but at least it fits!

If I need another one I'll probably get the same again.

Also (for turnout rugs) I find Rhinegold suit her best.
